This breathtakingly beautiful house deserved a landscape just as beautiful.

You’d never believe this project is nestled right in the middle of town. One of the great things about this project was being able to work hand in hand with the home builder to extend the architecture of the house into the landscape of this home in Sioux Falls. The combination of natural stone, cedar, and concrete pavers helped create a truly unique space. Sometimes the best “escape” is simply walking out the back door.

We never back down from a challenge. The architectural style of this Mediterranean-inspired beauty required the utmost attention to detail, starting with the design, through materials selection and construction.

Completed in 2016, the front of the house was to be a showpiece. The large portico protruding over the front entrance was made complete with a large circular paver driveway, creating the most grand of home entrances. Annual pots and perennials add bursts of color and life, creating traffic-stopping curb appeal. The backyard of this home is the perfect setup for entertaining guests, complete with a built-in grill and bar seating. The fire pit and surrounding paver patio are separated from the main living space by two large raised planters, creating an intimate space to enjoy an evening by the fire. Fire bowls add accent flames and additional heat to this outdoor living space for those nights with a chill in the air. We are proud to have been a part of bringing the exterior of this beautiful Sioux Falls home to life with a one-of-a-kind landscape.

Multi-Level Outdoor Living

The covered grilling and living area flows perfectly off the interior dining room of this home. An outdoor TV above the patio door makes it a perfect place to watch the Minnesota Vikings.

The raised patio space extends out from under the roof, offering a spot to catch some rays. Step down the stairway to another large patio with a cut flagstone fire pit area. The integration of concrete pavers and flagstone provides a pleasant contrast between the man-made and the natural. Take another set of stairs up to a recessed hot tub situated off the master bedroom of the house. Radiant perennials, sightly grasses, and shrubs soften the hardscapes and offer year-round color and appeal. Low voltage LED lighting accents the stairs and living space for a delicately lit backyard.

Elegance, beauty, and FUN sum up this backyard.

Before the renovation of this landscape began, there was an existing swimming pool and a fairly extensive landscape. The hope was to update the existing pool and redo the surrounding landscape.

To create a classy look to the patio, we used large slap pavers. Stone veneer steps were installed off the back of the house to match the look of the outdoor kitchen structures as well as the gas fire pit.

We then built an overhead structure with a TV to enjoy sporting events throughout the summer months. Whether you’re enjoying a cold beverage or cannonballing into the pool, this backyard will not disappoint. Cheers!

The focus of this project was to create multiple usable spaces. The kids and their friends can enjoy the pool while the adults practice their short game. The fire pit area is the perfect spot to enjoy a nice evening while unwinding from a fun-filled day. The large paver area is perfect for any size gathering of friends and/or family. This multifaceted backyard in Sioux Falls can most certainly handle a party (fore!) all.

A swimming pool, fire pit, golf green and entertaining space — what more do you need?

Riverside Retreat

Riverside Retreat

If you find yourself kayaking down the Big Sioux River, you might spot this hideaway.

Not every landscape we do is around a house. This secret retreat is nestled along the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls, and is more than meets the eye. The patio is constructed of 6”-10” thick pieces of stone in order to withstand floodwaters. The custom pergola has 12”x12” posts, which help the structure stand out among the large surrounding trees. Spending time around the natural stone fire pit makes this the perfect spot to retreat and enjoy nature.

Working with an existing landscape can be difficult, but we like the challenge! Creating updated entertaining areas while preserving as much vegetation as possible was key for this project.

The original landscape had an existing water feature that was a lot of maintenance and needed updating. Along with redesigning the water feature, we added new seating areas, a fire feature, a free-standing structure, and landscape lighting. Plant material and gardening were very important aspects of this project, so preserving the existing plant material was a top priority. If you find yourself in this Sioux Falls backyard, trust us — you’ll want to stay awhile.
